The creation and the first vicissitudes of the Real Lotería are presented, founded by Carlos III according to the Neapolitan model. The question also serves to analyze the relationship between profit and Catholic morality, government of the enlightened monarch, deployment of new authorities on the territory and legal characteristics of the bills or promissory notes issued by the Crown.
