Comparison of IT Investment Evaluation Frameworks Applied to the sarLAB Project

Abstract

When trying to calculate the business-value of an information technology (IT) investment in small businesses, it is hard to imagine how to apply frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman or IT Value Network (Read, 2009), in order to get that value. The following article shows the arising problems when the IT Value Network framework is being applied to a small business in order to determine the IT business-value of a specific IT project: sarLAB.

    Nació el 24 de abril de 1973 y actualmente reside en Bogotá, Colombia. Se graduó de la Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería como Ingeniero de Sistemas en 1999. Tiene una especialización en sistemas de información en la organización de la Universidad de Los Andes, en 2002, y una Maestría en Ingeniería Gerencial de la Universidad de Louisville, KY, en 2008. Actualmente es el director de TI de una empresa del sector salud y espera el grado de maestría en Ingeniería de Sistemas de la Universidad de los Andes, en 2013.

    Obtuvo su doctorado en Computer Science en la universidad Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) de Bélgica y en la Universidad de los Andes en Colombia. Además de sus actividades como profesor e investigador en la Universidad de los Andes, es director de la revista electrónica en Ingeniería de Software (Paradigma). Se ha desempeñado como consultor de tecnologías de información (TI) en diferentes proyectos empresariales. Sus áreas de interés son Gobierno de TI y la automatización de actividades de negocio
