The possible impact of the legalization of gay marriage and several expressions of sexual and gendered diversity (gay coming out, homoparenting adoption) on the contemporary conception of family is examined here, from several research findings in last twenty years. Drawing on the results of this reflection, the non-heterosexual couples would not diminish the familiar institution, but they surely transform it, since these unions would denaturalize the links between parents and children and extend the possibilities of comprehension of this cultural cluster.
